Rejoice, fans of medium-sized Japanese pickups made with pride in Texas and also Mexico! An all-new Toyota Tacoma is set to debut at next month's Detroit Auto Show, and it's bringing two fast friends from Lexus with it.

Bob Carter, senior vice president of automotive operations for Toyota Motor Sales, confirmed the debuts today to the Detroit Free Press and other news outlets. Carter offered no details on the next truck, but it's expected to be significantly improved over the current model.

And with General Motors just having debuted a new 2015 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon, the segment dominated by Toyota is about to get even tougher. What would you like to see on the new Tacoma?

Meanwhile on the Lexus side, two new performance cars will show up at Detroit. Toyota doesn't say what they are, but I think one of them is the long-rumored large performance coupe that could revive the Lexus SC nameplate with V8 power.

As for the other one, your guess is as good as mine, but we know a convertible Lexus RC is off the table, so it won't be a convertible M4 fighter. Suggestions are welcome.
